ABOUT THE BRAND

Hello!

I am A’Leeyah Ponder, the founder and content creator for Black Ponder Puffs motivation brand.  I sent out faith-based motivation text messages to my contact list back in 2020-2021. I decided to take a leap of faith and make a website blog space in 2022 after receiving encouraging feedback about #FruitfulFriday and #SuperSaturday text messages.

 

The concept of ‘Black Ponder Puffs’ was conceived on a Facetime conversation with an old college friend of mine. I wanted to cultivate a space where my life experiences as a first-generation college student, cisgendered, heterosexual, God fearing Black woman could be explored in it’s entirety. I noticed that I was having countless conversations with peers and strangers about Christianity, life, academia, my Blackness and the intersectionality of my identities.

 

We are not just one thing. I am not just Black, I am not just a woman & I am not just Christian.

I know that Christianity is a majority religion and faith-based group in America. Unfortunately,  there are vast groups of people who've experienced hurt, division, and confusion from "christians"/christian ideology amidts trying to find their way in this strange world. So, the hope for this brand and blog space is that regardless of your racial, ethnic, religious, sexual-orientation, gender identity, mental health status, whether you are able-bodied, or having any other physical, mental, or social experiences, that you can still be encouraged where you are free of human judgement. 

 

I am Human and I am full of flaws. The only hope I have is the grace of God and love of Jesus that literally saved my life from attempted suicide in 2015. This blog is a journey, my life’s journey, experiences, lessons, revelations received, and a space for me, and you, to walk this motivation journey out together.
